Today’s moment is not my own (well, it is sort of my own). I have been reading a book on mindful parenting and the authors make the analogy that children are like little zen masters. They are truly mindful. )Which is why you can’t herd them anywhere, my good friend says!). This idea has been floating around in my mind ever since I read it. This morning I was sitting with my breakfast and Kirby was beside me with his bowl of cereal. He was very happily engaged in eating his cereal. That is it. He was eating his cereal. He was not talking or playing or trying to look at a book or even listening to his siblings. He was eating. And he was so peaceful and content.

Definitely, Zen Master Kirby.
